So, Listen, we're not right on the route of this years Tour de Yorkshire. But we don't mind that!
We want you to come to see the finale of the race. It is being taken through almost all of our local communities and highlights what makes this area so great for cycling. The last 20 km of the race are a roller coaster of properly serious climbs that even the pros respect. They may not be the biggest, highest or longest climbs around, but they are steep and they are fierce, and they come at you with a frightening regularity that will wipe away any pretense of hardness.
There will be a lot going on for the weekend. Fox Valley will be awash with spectators and razzmatazz. All the local villages will be putting in a brilliant effort to feed and entertain you.
But, and I think its a big but, we are undoubtedly the leading local cycling cafe. We have been welcoming cyclists since at least the 1940's and we will be, well after all the flags and sound systems have been packed away.
I'm not a showman. Its not my style. What we will be offering you for the weekend is a genuine experience. The cafe will be busy and there will be a great atmosphere.
Saturday evening will see us staying open till midnight for a bistro night. Ideal for carbo loading in comfort if you are tackling one of Sundays Sportives.
Sunday morning we will be open at dawn (5.30 am). A chance to get some breakfast and pick up snacks for the rides.
We will have our big screen up to watch the race unfold (Remember it wont arrive until late afternoon so there plenty of time).
Langsett is a beautiful place to explore. We have free nature trail maps through the woods by the reservoir, theres a wonderful 3 mile walk round the reservoir.
Come the afternoon, if you want the genuine experience of watching a road race, get yourself to the top of either Ewden heights or Midhopestones to watch the riders tackling the climbs, get close to the race, get in the race, watch the pain and the effort- that's the way to watch a race!
Hope to see you at the weekend, whether its on Saturday ,Saturday evening or for breakfast lunch or tea on Sunday, and have a wonderful weekend!
